Utilization of the online tools.
To expedite the learning and compensate for lecturing in a conventional classrom, L-142, this class utilizes many online tools to break the limitation of lacking the hands-on learning. For example, we use class blog for the quiz and posting reference materials. For example, the reference links for the first project: build a PC on paper.
Online Homework.
The course.com provides a set wonderful exercises for the textbook, each chapter came with 4 self-test exercises. You have to register and add the class to your course.com account. The first three exercises of each chapter are mandatory homework. All grades will be posted below after the due date.

The weekly LABAR hour during the supervised lab hours is required for successful passing the COMSC-100.
For homework problems, you may seek the help from Yosuf Ebrat, Computer Science Department tutor. His office is in the Computer Center, room L-145. There is a signup sheet on his door. His office hours is posted here.

Lecture

Coverage.
Throughout the semester several topics will be taught to ensure the the Student Learning Objective ... for this class. Half of the lecture will be covering the textbook: the Understanding Computers, Today and Tomorrow, by Morley Parker.
To ease the learning, I will do my best to cover the latest industry trends, interesting technologies, useful tools, ....
The other half of the lecture, we will be covering the HTML and javascript Programming Note by Paul Lou. I will try to answer the relavent questions in class, however, I will defer those questions are too specific or not applicable to the rest of the class to after the class or to the office hour.
Eaams to ensure you learn.
For most of you, the comsc-100 is your first computer science class. Many terminology may appear similar to you, however they mean different things. Due to the limited lecture time, I can only go over the important concept and useful examples during the lecture. It is important to study the vocabulary through reading the textbook and self-test with the CoursePort exercises.
